10 August 2023, Walton Heath, Surrey: American Ally Ewing leads an international leaderboard after day one of the AIG Women’s Open at a glorious Walton Heath.
The 30-year-old posted a four-under-par 68 in the late evening sun to move a shot clear of a pack of five players at the renowned Surrey venue.
Ewing, chasing her first major title, posted five birdies in an up-and-down round before highlighting her day with an eagle at the par-5 16th. Read more

Ally Ewing fired an opening round of 68 (-4) to lead by one stroke at the end of the first day of the AIG Women’s Open at Walton Heath.
On a sun-soaked Thursday, it was tight at the top of the leaderboard as the players got to grips with the testing course at the final major of the year.
It was three-time LPGA Tour winner Ewing who posted the round of the day making three bogeys, five birdies, and an eagle to be on four-under-par. Read more

Few would have predicted Ally Ewing leading the charge.
Ewing made eagle from 5 feet at the par-5 16th to leapfrog a five-way tie for first place and parred the last two holes to shoot 4-under 68 for the solo lead at Walton Heath in the opening round of the year's final major. Read more
